This is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in nature on the beautiful Atherton Tablelands.
Camping allows us the freedom to escape from day to day life, enjoy the outdoors and take in the beauty all around us.
We combine three half day treks with invigorating stretching and Pilates sessions. Add in a day of optional sightseeing or just reading a book into the mix, and what more could anyone ask for! A thoroughly restful and relaxing long weekend.
Cairns
This morning we head to Stoney Creek for the first of our Guided Hikes to Barron Falls (approx 10 km). This is a delightful hike with regular views to Cairns, Trinity Bay and the northern beaches.
After spending some time at Barron Falls, we will board our bus for the short drive to Kuranda for lunch (own cost) and some sightseeing.
Back on the bus we make our way to Atherton, check into accommodation and relax before enjoying our first pilates session.
Later we will have our first dinner with group. (D)
We have the opportunity to watch the mist rise from the ranges, and the sun warm the day as we enjoy a morning pilates session.
Our first stop today will be Malanda Falls, the Millaa Millaa Falls, one of the most photographed falls in Australia so make sure you have your camera handy. Mungali Creek Dairy is our next stop for morning tea.
From here, we will visit Herberton in our private bus with your fellow trekkers. We have the opportunity to visit Herberton Historic Village, a fascinating glimpe into the history of the area.
On return to camp, a second pilates session, or you may choose to take a rest before dinner which will be at local restaurant. (B/D)
Our second hike is quite different to the first, but every bit as beautiful.
We hike through a variety of terrain, with a small exposed section undertaken early in the day before the heat. Our climbs along this well-maintained track are rewarded with beautiful views of the Atherton Tablelands, and, hopefully, some good bird sightings.
At the conclusion of our hike, we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to our campground for an afternoon of relaxation. Dinner will be at our campground. (B/D)
All good things must come to an end. After breakfast, we will pack up and check out of our campground.
However the day wouldn’t be complete without another hike and the pleasant walk around the crater lake of Lake Barrine is the perfect way to finish. Lunch at the Lake Barrine Teahouse and we then make our way back into Cairns and say goodbye (B/L)
